DMEH supported vocal project Teachers Rock Youth Choir had an exciting time over the Easter holidays alongside Debbie Kent and the gospel legend, and Teachers Rock Patron, Rev. Bazil Meade.

Teachers Rock® Youth Choir record their first professional ‘live in session’ album alongside Teachers Rock® and Rev Bazil Meade MBE

On Saturday 14th April, 125 young people (aged 8-13yrs) from across the South West joined together for their first ever recording session as the Teachers Rock® Youth Choir. Talented young singers from; Berrynarbour, Brayford, Chulmleigh Academy, Cotford St Luke, East the Water, Furzeham, Georgeham, Kingsacre, Monkleigh, Montgomery, Pilton CC, Shaldon, Stawley, Sticklepath, Stoke Climsland and Woolsery were brought together by Teachers Rock® founder, Debbie Kent, to record a live session alongside their teaching staff who sing in Teachers Rock® satellite choirs across the South West. These young people were also in for an additional surprise on the day as their official Teachers Rock® patron, Rev Bazil Meade MBE (Founder and Principal of the London Community Gospel Choir) also made a guest appearance in the morning to perform on the recording alongside them.

“The pleasure of seeing young children singing with enjoyment written all over their little faces is high on my list of good experiences, a most important ingredient of that moment is having an inspired tutor guiding them. Debbie Kent is excellent with children” (Rev Bazil Meade MBE)

The Teachers Rock® Youth Choir is a new vocal development programme initiated by Teachers Rock® founder Debbie Kent.
