Children benefit in so many ways from the chance to learn and participate in music. It helps their ability to learn, to concentrate, and to behave; it helps them to mature socially and develop their creativity; and it is something in which they can find great comfort and enjoyment.

Choosing the best path into a life of music for your child is not always simple, but our instrument hire scheme is here to help. With minimum hire periods from just one term, every child in Devon can have the opportunity to find the instrument that suits them best. Instruments can be hired for any child in Devon up until the point where they leave main stream education (for example they cannot be taken to university). Your Hub website offers information and guidance about buying an instrument when the time is right, and about charitable trusts who can help to fund the studies of talented young musicians.

Pupil Premium Children
If your child is eligible to receive free school meals, they will also be eligible to our heavily discounted rate of £30 per academic year for any instrument. We simply require that proof of eligibility is presented.

If you have been teaching a class a specific instrument, and a pupil wishes to carry on, hire the instrument and take it home to practice, this is possible at a rate of £25+vat for the first year, and then £25+vat per term thereafter. This is because our instrument technician does not need to prepare an instrument, as the pupil can use the instrument they have been playing out of the class set. Please click on the Instrument Hire Request Form below and ensure the serial number of the instrument is inserted in the form accordingly.
